Our
Philosophy
Holy Family - Holy Name School, as a Catholic school in the
Fall River Diocese, views education as involving the whole
person in an environment of faith, hope, and love which is
centered on the values of the Gospels of Jesus Christ. We
recognize each student as unique in gifts, interests and
needs, as we strive to educate each child spiritually,
morally, intellectually, socially, physically, and
esthetically.
Holy Family - Holy Name School is a community of learners,
teachers, parents, staff and resource persons who strive to
make Christian Community not simply a concept to be taught,
but a reality to be lived and experienced daily. We believe
we are called to create an atmosphere where each child is
encouraged to grow and develop to his / her greatest
potential, empowered to go forth and meet the challenges and
needs of an ever changing world.
Our Mission
The mission of Holy Family - Holy Name School is to provide
our community with the opportunity for a Catholic preschool
through grade 8 education. While we are primarily a parish
school supported by the parishes of St. Lawrence Martyr and
Holy Name, we welcome children from other parishes as well
as non-Catholics. Holy Family - Holy Name School provides an
important educational alternative for area families who
desire Christian values to be included in the education of
their children. A primary goal for Holy Family - Holy Name
School is to be of service and assistance to parents in the
education of their children. To accomplish this we are
committed to:
Educating each child spiritually by
- providing opportunities for personal and communal prayer,
liturgical and sacramental experiences;
- fostering awareness and respect of God’s presence in one’s
self, others, and the world around them;
- encouraging each child to reach out to others, serving as
Jesus did.
Educating each child morally by providing living witness to
and encouraging decisions based upon Gospel values in
school, at home, and in community projects.
Educating each child intellectually through a challenging
academic program, developed with attention to the needs of
the child and both traditional and contemporary educational
methodologies.
Educating each child socially by providing opportunities to
develop positive interrelationships as well as respect and
appreciation for self, others, and the world around us.
Educating each child physically by providing opportunities
for a variety of gross and fine motor activities, as well as
fostering proper nutrition, personal hygiene, safety, and an
awareness of human sexuality and drug/alcohol issues.
Educating each child in the arts by providing opportunities
for artistic, musical, and theatrical appreciation,
expressions, and experiences.
Providing a safe, caring environment conducive to learning
and the full development of the child before, during, and
after school.
Seeking out and providing referrals for professional and
community aid to parents and students in need of services
beyond those provided by the school.
Maintaining open and frequent communication between school
and parent.
Involving students as active, responsible participants in
their own education.
Preparing our students for the future by
- fostering awareness of community and global issues and our
Christian responsibility to those needs;
- encouraging each student to grow in skills, knowledge and
faith, empowering each to be an active and responsible
participant in the home, the parish and the greater
community;
- working closely with students and parents in choosing
future educational placements and smooth transitions
throughout their educational experiences.
Holy Family - Holy Name Creed
We believe that learning is a lifelong journey rooted in the
teachings of Jesus Christ.
We will face each day with hearts and souls trusting in the
Lord and with minds open to grow in the knowledge of His
world.
We believe that success means doing our best and being our
best.
We will wonder, we will ask, we will imagine, we will
create, we will strive to grow in the image and likeness of
God.
We will feel proud of our efforts to do our best and we will
encourage others to do their best.
We believe God has given each of us special gifts in order
for us to serve as Jesus did and to share with others the
gifts of the Holy Spirit.
We will discover our talents and use them to help others.
We will be gentle with others as they grow to know their
strengths and weaknesses.
We will thank God for our specialness!
We believe in the freedom to pray and worship Our Lord.
We will pray with our hearts and hands, in our words and our
actions.
We will grow closer to Jesus through His church.
We will be happy to share our faith with our family, our
friends, and our community.
We believe in ourselves, in each other, and in Our Lord,
Jesus Christ.
We believe, we will hope, we will love, and, by our choices
today, we will light the way to the future.
